Eventing Clinic In Oxford, MS March 21 Cedar Wind Farm students had a clinic day with world class Eventer Danielle Williams of Aubrey, Texas on Saturday March 21st. Evie and Bob Tumlin in Oxford, MS hosted the clinic. Danielle and her mare Eikan Tango compete at Intermediate Level and Danielle is a graduate B of US Pony Club. Students Alexa Sinha from Oxford, Alexis Pannell from Tupelo, Austin Bullard from Bruce, and Molly Cook from Clarksdale tried out the new cross-country and stadium jumping courses. Alexis Pannell recently passed the US Pony Club C-2 rating and was the most advanced rider at the clinic. In the clinic, Alexa Sinha was tested by Danielle for her US Pony Club D-2 rating, which she passed later that afternoon. In the morning Stadium Jumping session, students worked on basic gymnastic exercises that help the horses learn jumping skills and help the riders with balance, control, and quiet rein contact. The afternoon sessions were cross-country course schooling over 18 separate jumping efforts. Danielle worked the riders over combinations, jumping uphill and jumping downhill. The confidence of the riders and ponies grew, as the ponies and their riders cantered confidently over logs, hills, and ditches. In the last session, Alexis demonstrated, on her mare Izzy, work over gymnastic exercises and combinations that were tight and technical. Cedar Wind Farm’s Combined Test and Dressage Schooling show are April 18th. The Combined Test has dressage test and a jumping test for levels 18” - 2’11” (Novice) and higher levels by request. Riders may school the cross country course by permission for a fee. CWF will hold a dressage/cross country Combined Test later in the year, in conjunction with the Dressage Schooling show on July 25th.
