Same “Old Mound” St. Jude Trailride, New Name
September 28-30
The Old Mound St. Jude Trailride has a new name this year-BUCK CREEK ST. JUDE TRAILRIDE with a new location at Weaver Farms in Crockett County, TN.
For the past 8 years the ride has been very successful at Old Mound Road, but like so many things in life change these days, a new location will make the ride even more successful!
Weaver Farms is located at 92 Weaver Road on Hwy 152 near Alamo, TN. From Hwy 412 take Hwy 152 East, Weaver Farms is 5 miles on the right. From intersection of Hwy 152 and Hwy 54, take Hwy 152 west, trailride campsite is one mile on left.
There will be primitive camping, generators welcomed, and a water wagon that will bring water to campsites.
There is no charge to attend the trailride the entire weekend. The only thing asked is to collect donations ahead of time in the area you live, bring your donations with you and a gift item for the auction or drawing. St. Jude gives a T-Shirt for $35.00 donation, a T-Shirt and tote bag for $75.00 donation, and T-Shirt, Sweat Shirt, and tote bag for $125.00 donation.
Everyone may ride at random all day Friday, hamburgers and hotdogs will be served around 5:30pm and live band “High Voltage” beginning at 7:00pm. The main organized ride will leave promptly at 9:00am Saturday morning with haywagons for those without a horse, and return for lunch of white beans & cornbread. After lunch, several “special” guests will speak, then the auction will begin at which time drawings and free prizes will be given away. That afternoon games such as: goat chase, calf scramble, bat ‘n’ bucket, “women only” rodeo, and many more.
The band will begin at 7:30pm. Sunday, an organized ride will leave at 1:00 pm. Two photographers will be present at this year’s ride taking pictures during all activities. A supervised mechanical bull, calf-roping machine, freeze branding, and several vendors will be present for the weekend.
All horses must have a current Coggins paper and will be checked at entrance gate.
Last year’s crowd of 332 horse riders, 12 wagons/teams, haywagon riders, and hundreds of other guest raised over $37,000.00 for the children at St. Jude. Hopefully this year we can reach a goal of $40,000.00. St. Jude has approximately 4,900 patients in active status and treats children without regard to race religion, creed or ability to pay. St. Jude is the only pediatric cancer research center where families never pay for treatments that are not covered by insurance, and families without insurance are never asked to pay. Since opening in 1962, it has treated children form all 50 states and more than 70 countries.
Everyone is invited to attend this event. You don’t even have to bring a horse to enjoy the weekend. There is something for everyone. For more information please contact: Kathy Moore 731-617-1225, Terry Weaver 731-696-4883, Cindy Wells 731-627-0413. Email: pantdrosran@crockettnet.com.
