West Tennessee Hunter Jumper Association (WTHJA) closed out its 2021 show season with the nationally rated Memphis Charity, November 18-21, 2021 at the Germantown Charity Horse Show Arena in Germantown, Tenn.

WTHJA’s charity is the Equestrian Aid Foundation (EAF), which provides emergency financial grants to members of the equestrian community throughout the U.S. who are struggling with catastrophic illness, injury, or other unforeseen crises.  The EAF provides needs-based financial support to horse people who have experienced life-changing or life-threatening health crises and need assistance paying for basic living and rehabilitative expenses. This is the second year in a row that WTHJA has offered two weeks of fall showing, and it seems to be working well, as riders had another opportunity to accumulate points toward year-end awards. While the second week’s show wasn’t quite as big as the first week’s, it still attracted 125 entries. The show had wide-ranging appeal, too, attracting riders from middle Tennessee, Arkansas, and Madison and Jackson, Miss. area.

The WTHJA Hunter Derby was, again, a feature of this show on Sunday morning, in addition to several Classics on Friday and Saturday. Unfortunately, rain came in mid-morning on Sunday and continued the rest of the day. Yet, Barney Mallace noted: “Everyone continued on with smiling faces.”

WTHJA Hunter Derby winner was Clementine Taylor on A Royal Obsession.

AO/Jr. Hunter Classic winner was Abigail Arnold riding Keebler.

WIHS/NAL Adult Classic winner was Reagan Bugg on Brewsky, with Veni Vidi Vici and Maria Anello in reserve and Addie Bihm and Comaraderie in third. Comaraderie and Bihm were also Adult Amateur 18-35 Champions, with Bugg and Brewsky in reserve.

Jennifer Rypel and Reveille were champions in Adult Amateur 36+, with Nicole Harris and Le Diplomate in reserve.

Eleanor Grace Flynn and Candor earned the blue ribbon in WIHS/NAL Children’s Classic.

Kitty Walters and App For That won the THIS Children’s Medal.
