The competition was tough at the Tennessee Livestock Center in Murfreesboro, Tennessee for the Volunteer Ranch Horse Association’s (VolRHA) “Beat the Heat!” show over Labor Day weekend, September 2-3, 2017.  Show secretary Leslie Fluhr kept the office running smoothly, with over seventy-five horses competing over the weekend in eighty-one classes.

The “Beat the Heat!” show was an American Ranch Horse Association (ARHA) recognized show with many riders looking to add to both their local and national points for year-end awards.  The ARHA has classes that range from conformation, to Ranch Pleasure, Trail, and numerous cattle classes.  Youth, Amateur, Novice Youth, Novice Amateur, and Open divisions are offered to provide opportunities to a variety of exhibitors.  The ARHA and its local charter, the Volunteer Ranch Horse Association, have a mission to provide ranch horse enthusiasts a place to showcase and promote the abilities of the all-around working ranch horse.

The next VolRHA show, the “Fall Finale,” is scheduled for November 11-12, 2017 at the Miller Coliseum in Murfreesboro, TN. Those who may be new to the VolRHA and ARHA may join at the show with the membership being good for the 2018 year.  The association is already making plans for the six shows it has on the calendar for 2018.  Tentative plans are for two shows, March and April, are to be at Shelby Farms Showplace Arena in Memphis.  These two shows will include Reined Cow Horse classes, and AQHA Versatility Ranch classes.  February and September shows will be in Murfreesboro at the Tennessee Livestock Center, and May and November at the Miller Coliseum.  Full results of the September show can be found at:
