Music City Arabian Show
The Middle Tennessee Arabian Horse Association hosted their 38th annual Music City Arabian Show August 18 – 20 at the Miller Coliseum in Murfreesboro, TN. This show was a qualifier for the 2018 Region 12 Nationals, 2018 Youth Nationals, and the 2017 Sport Horse Nationals. The show attracted approximately 100 horses, with exhibitors coming from all over the Southeast including Ohio, Virginia, and other states. The show began with Sport Horse classes on Friday. Liberty to Performance classes and more were offered the remainder of the weekend in addition to an open Dressage portion of the show on Saturday. USEF & WDAA Western Dressage classes were available to all breeds.
Show manager Jill Girardi Thomas commented on several factors that made this year’s show a favorite among exhibitors. In addition to the regular slate of classes, the club offered “TBA” classes in the event that someone wants the opportunity to show in a class that might not have been originally scheduled. Also, a variety of Academy classes were offered for both youth and adults who are currently participating in a lesson program on any breed.
Girardi Thomas added that the Western Dressage portion of the show that was held on Saturday morning was the first United States Dressage Federation/Western Dressage Association of America recognized show in Tennessee. Riders working toward national awards in these organizations could earn double points at this show. Exhibitor Mary Priest-Guthrie said, “Nannet Read did an excellent job of promoting (the Western Dressage). The whole show ran very smoothly and everyone was very helpful. I’ll definitely be back next year.”
A special thank you to show photographers Marty and Jennifer Barr of Barr Studios, www.barrstudios.com, for providing some great photos from the show.
