Mid-South QHA Spring Circuit
The Mid-South Quarter Horse Association (MSQHA) hosted its Spring Circuit, March 4-5, 2017 at the Paul Battle Arena in Tunica, Mississippi. Judges were Jessica Gilliam, Sandy Curl, Chris Jetter, and Micheal Ochetto. The Pleasure Driving, Halter, Showmanship, Western Riding classes showed to all four judges. All other classes showed before two judges. The show offered a flat fee of $200 for one horse, all show entries, office and drug test fees.
Saturday’s classes began with Pleasure Driving and then moved into the Halter classes. Later in the day the Showmanship classes went to the arena, followed by Western Riding, Western Pleasure, the Small Fry riders, and Horsemanship. After the break were the Hunter and Equitation classes, followed by the Ranch Horse classes. In the back pen, the trail classes were ongoing before judges Ochetto and Jetter. The final classes on Saturday were the reining classes.
Sunday’s show started with Trail, then Reining classes, followed by Ranch Horse Riding. Then it was time for the Western Pleasure classes and Horsemanship. The show concluded with Hunter and Equitation classes.
On Friday night March 3, just before the show started, MSQHA elections were held. The following are leaders for 2017: President, Bobby Blanton; Vice President Michael Doyle; Secretary, Lynn Isbell; and Treasurer Al Fenger. The 2017 Board of Directors are: Megan Dorris Hunt, Kat Draughon, Bill Robb, Kelly Dye, Kathy Haynes, Lee Mize, Rick Peeler, and Butch Robinson.
This is the first of four shows MSQHA is offering this year. Next will be the Liberty Circuit, July 1-3, followed by the Cotton Bowl, September 23-24, and finishing the season with the Turkey Circuit, November 25-26, 2017.
