WTPC Holds Unmounted Meeting at SBEC
West Tennessee Pony Club (WTPC) was excited to conduct an unmounted meeting hosted at Southern Blues Equestrian Center (SBEC) on February 19, 2017. This fun instructional time was geared for all ages and knowledge levels. After a few opening remarks about Pony Club from Vonna Read, WTPC District Commissioner, the WTPC youth members presented information on the topics of helmet safety, pony parts, unsoundness/blemishes, and, especially, “the awesome leg of grossness” (a real cross-section of a leg specimen preserved for teaching ligaments, tendons, bones, and hoof parts). There was eager participation and there were great questions including, “Is Pony Club just for ponies?” The answer is no – Pony Club is for ponies AND horses.
McKrell Baier, owner/trainer for SBEC, said, “It was a huge success – the C2 presenters were excellent, and all of us, young and old(er), learned a lot and had a great time! We are very proud to have been invited by this organization to help recruit new Pony Clubbers, and we already have a good group of kids and ‘more mature’ folks committed to becoming a part of WTPC. We feel strongly about promoting the mission of the Pony Club. What these kids enjoy learning is what every single rider should know!”
WTPC wishes to thank SBEC for hosting the meeting. SBEC provides professional training and education of horses and horsemen using a unique blend of international flair and southern hospitality, focusing on horsemanship, excellent care, and respect of the horses. Their facilities, as well as riding techniques, include personalized service, international experts, and more. For more, please contact McKrell Baier at http://www.southernbluesequestrian.com.
